Mary K. Burke is the founder and CEO of MKB Indie Radio, an Irish-born singer-songwriter and recording artist who has lived in Scotland for 45 years. With three albums to her credit — including one entirely self-penned — Mary brings both artistic insight and extensive industry experience to the station she leads.

Before creating her own platform, Mary spent ten years hosting the hugely popular “Mary K Burke Show” on Celtic Music Radio, a programme that became so well‑loved it was syndicated across several stations. In 2019,during Lockdown supported by listeners and indie artists who believed in her vision, she launched www.mkbindependentradio.com which is now been rebranded by her to MKB INDIE RADIO www.mkbindieradio.com. Mary is also a trained and skilled webmaster and has an HNC in Music Performance and promotion.and brought all her skills and talent including the rebuilding of this website to create MKB INDIE RADIO and has dedicated 16 years of her life to supporting Indie artists from all over the world.

Today, Mary leads a team of over 20 volunteer presenters, all united by a shared commitment to fairness, integrity, and genuine discovery. Her work in radio has earned international recognition, including being named Radio Host of the Year in both 2024 and 2025 at the FPCM Red Carpet Music Awards.in Holland

In 2025, she introduced the station’s Weekly Top Ten Chart, now a global showcase for independent artists from every corner of the world. Mary champions genres rich in story and soul — Country, Americana, Western, Celtic, Folk, Easy Listening, and Rockabilly — creating a home where independent music is valued for its heart, not its hype.

Although she no longer hosts a weekly show — having stepped back to focus on running the station — Mary’s voice, vision, and musical spirit remain woven through the heart of MKB. Her experience as a working artist gives her a deep understanding of the independent music world, shaping the station’s mission to champion authentic voices and meaningful songwriting.
Mary may return to broadcasting in the future, but for now, she pours her energy into nurturing the station, supporting presenters, and building a global community where independent artists can thrive.
